Lara Bolton is a pianist, vocal coach, conductor, and arranger. A multi-faceted artist, the majority of her work centers vocal collaborations across many genres. Operatic affiliations include San Francisco Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Washington National Opera, Houston Grand Opera, San Diego Opera, Seattle Opera, Minnesota Opera, Nashville Opera, Washington Concert Opera, Chicago Opera Theater, Florentine Opera, Opera San Antonio, and Opera Santa Barbara, among others. She has also led musical preparation for projects at the Guthrie and Jungle Theaters, Theater Latté Da, and An Opera Theatre.

Ms. Bolton is the Artistic and General Director for the Opera Reading Project, and former Head of Music for Mill City Summer Opera. She has served on the vocal coaching and collaborative piano faculty at the University of Minnesota and for numerous operatic apprentice and resident artist programs. In addition to maintaining an active concert and recording career and large private vocal coaching studio, she is also a rock keyboardist and singer in a cover band, and arranges, co-creates, and collaborates on others’ various conceptual and genre-bending classical fusion projects.


Ms. Bolton is a former San Francisco Opera Adler Fellow and Domingo-Cafritz Young Artist at Washington National Opera. Summer festival engagements include the Merola Opera Program, Music Academy of the West, Brevard Music Festival, and Interlochen Arts Camp.
